perpetual calendarDo you know anyone who always seems to remember your birthday?

And I mean even before Facebook reminds them of it?

Have you ever wondered how they did it?

I’m not sure how they do it, but I know how I do it and I am willing to share my secret with you.

It’s called a perpetual calendar.

I have a pretty good memory and can usually remember what month someone’s birthday is in. However if you are not my immediate family I am likely to forget the actual date. This is where a perpetual calendar becomes useful.

A perpetual calendar is a small calendar that only has dates on it with blank lines next to the dates. You only put things on there that never change dates. Birthdays, anniversaries, etc. If you can’t remember Christmas or New Year’s you could put those on there, but forget about all the other holidays they change yearly.

Our perpetual calendar has all of our family member’s birthdays with birth year (it helps so we can tell when a big birthday 40, 50, etc. is coming up) and their anniversaries with year of marriage. Of course, we have many friends’ birthdays on there too.

Our perpetual calendar hangs up right next to our actual calendar on the refrigerator.

We are able to look at the entire month and see what important dates are coming up and who we may need to get a card for or remember to call..

I have forgotten a phone call or two over the years. I think perhaps those family members appreciate that I didn’t call them at 5:15 in the morning when I first thought about them. The day just got away from me and it became too late to call when I remembered.

My perpetual calendar was from Stampin Up and I had a craft night with friends to stamp them, but they can be bought in many places. I have bought them for others on Amazon. These can make great gifts for others too. You can personalize them by entering all the family birthdays on it before gifting it. You could even make your own.

I must say the perpetual calendar has been great to have and I highly recommend it to others. Remember not all important dates are on Facebook and not all important people are on Facebook.  Plus Facebook reminders only work if you log in every day. I know every day I will get something out of my refrigerator so I’ll be forced to see our perpetual calendar.

Never forget an important birthday or anniversary again—get or making yourself a perpetual calendar. These also make great Mother’s Day gifts, which is right around the corner.

Do you have a different way of remembering important dates?

Please share what helps you.
